Newlight Junior Academy pupils celebrate after the release of KCPE results on January 28, 2013. The school emerged first nationwide.

Away from Political matters,  it is best to explore the other bit of Kenya’s developmental growth; the academic sector. The 2012 KCPE results have since been released by the Education minister Mutula Kilonzo at the Mitihani House.

According to the announcement the top counties were as follows: Kirinyaga, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Baringo, Makueni, Busia, Kisumu, Tharaka and West Pokot. He also noted that the National examination was a pointer to the performance of the education sector in the country.
He also sated that, the Kenya Examination Act will enable stakeholders to control and contain any irregularities nad improve performance in schools. He then added that this reforms willl ensure quality service delivery.

"I thank the President, the PM and Parliament because nobody stood in my way in achieving goals," he said. " We have policies to help develop talents and improve the assessment in the education sector."

Mr Kilonzo said that students should proceed to secondary schools regardless of their results.
" I will not allow pupils to drop out at class eight. They should go all the way. It's their constitutional right," he said.

The educational minister also said that the curriculum would be reviewed in order to achieve Vision 2030 with major emphasis on technology.

On matters of Gender parity he stated that it had been successfully achieved in most counties.
"Gender parity has been achieved in 36 counties where the ratio of boys to girls was 50:50," he said.

However, West Pokot, Narok, Migori, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir were among 11 counties that had great gender disparity according to Mr Kilonzo.

He also said that 302 students sat their exams from prison while 42 from the hospital. He noted that 88 students had been arrested for involvement in examination irregularities which is an increase from 14 in the previous year.

Hon. Bishop. Dr. Margaret Wanjiru, MP, The Story.

5:02 am 0 Comments

Another one bites the dust!!! I can not say such a dramatic turn of events was not expected during this nomination period. As we go about our daily activities in perpetual ignorance a lot is happening in our government that we never seem to understand.

How long have this unqualified people been in our government apparently leading developmental activities? How did they even get into those positions without the proper vetting?

The Kenya Commission for Higher Education has rejected the academic qualifications of Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Starehe MP and assistant Housing minister. As a result, she can no longer be a candidate for Nairobi governor because by law she is not considered a graduate.

Wanjiru received the degree of Doctor of Theology from Vineyard Harvester Bible College on July 13, 2003. On October 26, 2010, she received a bachelors degree in Christian Leadership from United Graduate College and Seminary International.

Specifically the CHE said the two colleges did not appear in the World Higher Education Database prepared by UNESCO and the International Association of Universities. To make matters worse for Wanjiru, two ODM activists have written through their lawyers to ODM electoral chairman Franklin Bett and ODM Secretary General Anyang' Nyongo.

The letter questioned how Wanjiru could have a received a doctorate before her bachelors degree, and asked how long she had spent studying at the two colleges. It also asked how she could be admitted to an institution of higher learning if she had not done A-Levels. Both Wanjiru's degrees come from 'virtual colleges' without any campus or physical address.

Since then Wanjiru could not be reached for comment.

And as all this is happening, yet Lilian Wakiiya Mwaura was shocked after it came out that her name was not on the ballot paper. In the words of Eng. Ephraim Maina, The political Hiccups continue!!

Did Anybody Prophesy this!!!

Our head of state Hon. Mwai Kibaki does it again. The country was shocked to hear that the President had gladly given himself a hefty send of package at the expense of the MP's who had proposed it in the first place.

Apparently, the MP's had awarded themselves millions of tax payers money and other hefty perks such as state funerals, which they were to receive upon retirement from service. This to be exact is the second time they have attempted such a daring greedy feat.

The first came at a time that the country was struggling with several of the Public workforce was on the streets demanding better pay. Unfortunately, the government claimed to lack money to sustain such demands and some went back to work empty handed, and others went back to work only to be denied a months salary. To add insult to injury, there was suddenly enough funds to cater for salary increments and the lot for our MP's.

Thankfully the President came to our rescue and rejected the bill, saving our fast dying economy managing just to pull it out of the garbage in time.

This time round he did not disappoint either. It seemed that this time round our Honorable members had a plan to see the Bill passed. My thought is that they included an appealing send of package for the President which would 'ignite' his desire to grant them their wish.

None of them would have ever, in a million years anticipated such a reply to their cheeky approach. Mr. President in his wise age granted himself a well deserved send-off package and rejected the MP's proposal. To be honest, I have never been so proud of my President.

As I always tell you my fellow readers, the country is experiencing the dawning of a new era. We want leaders we can trust, those who will not fuel ethnicity through hate speech. We want a safe country for the period of time we have on this God given earth.

This is a National Disaster!!

12:13 am 0 Comments

I think I am going to go sick with rage. I know I should not be but we are all human and emotions are part of what makes us human. How is it possible that, while people are butchering each other in some parts of the country, our Honorable MP's are busy in the August house discussing a hefty send of package for them?

Really, what does this say about them? Why is it that this people we put in leadership to represent us and our views are busy enriching themselves at the expense of the lives of the “Common Mwananchi”? In fact, what does “Common Mwananchi” mean?

I refuse to be considered as Common. Every single citizen of Kenya has a huge role to play and that role is not a common one. I refuse to be undermined for my small standing in the social and economic hierarchy. We as the citizens have a voice. This voice is going to reverberate on all corners of this country because most of us are tired of poor leadership.

Wake up!! Open your eyes and look around you. People are killing each other yet the elections are barely here. While our leaders are busy strategizing on how they will get back into power, good hardworking citizens are dying.

Look at what is happening in the Tana Delta. The images we see on TV are just the tip of the ice berg. Women, Men and Children are being butchered like livestock while our governments put little or no effort to prevent further deaths. We wake up to bad news every day like breakfast. We see it every day and because of this our minds have accepted it to be the norm. I am sickened to the pit of my stomach!!

Forgive me, if I seem so blunt, but one thing I will never apologies for is the irresponsibility of our current parliament. Yes, you may claim that you have a long development record but unfortunately, Mheshimiwa within the next five years there won’t be anybody to admire your developments.

Tips on How to Get the Kenyan Peace Badge

1:06 am 0 Comments

People are asking me, what is the Kenya Peace Badge for Bloggers? Others are asking why I even created it in the first place and what effect it will have on the country?

Well, my answer remains the same. There is nothing I would not do to see this country prosper. Don't we all want our children and grand children to live in a peaceful world. Some may prophesy doom and misfortune, but until that day the war for peace must rage on, like a consuming flame.

The Kenya Peace Badge is just the beginning. It is a humble request for support from my fellow blogger community to dedicate some few minutes or hours of their day to promote peace in this beautiful country during this sensitive period.

The reason why I created it is that, few people have the chance to make a change in other peoples lives. Fewer of this people really care about happens in the lives of others. I find this disturbing. So, in my own little way I devised this idea hoping people will catch it on and spreading the word of peace world over.

So, I urge you my fellow bloggers, join us in this humble cause and lets spread the word of peace to every corner of the country and world over.

Prophesies About The 2013 General Elections in Kenya.

2:27 am 2 Comments

Most recently a great number of Kenyan You tube viewers were shocked to find out that the death of one of the prominent Presidential aspirants Prof. George Saitoti had already been prophesied. Like most none believers, some were quick to wave it off as a shady scheme meant to gain publicity. However, some acknowledged God’s great power and that indeed his prophets were on this earth.

Now, recently there have been new claims of prophesies concerning the fast approaching General elections this year. The prophets in this case have had earlier successes in accurately describing situations that would happen in the near future of which came to pass. These prophets have indeed narrowed down to the name of Kenya’s next president and even the region he or she will come from.

These prophets are also prophesying some very discouraging news of upheavals, violence in some parts of the country though of a lesser magnitude than the 2007-2008 Post Election Violence (PEV). That gives me some sort of relief, but still I do pray that no violence will erupt.

The question however is, should we believe in this prophesies about our beloved country Kenya? Are we going to stand for it, while someone prophesies doom on our country?

I for one, lack the proper motivation to believe this prophesies. People are afraid at this time. They are afraid that the country will go up in smoke, and thus are likely to behave according to the Prophesy.

I do not wish to stain anybody’s reputation when I say that, the Prophesy is like a script and we, like the actors, will act out each scene perfectly. I call this the Actor’s Syndrome. I believe we all have a choice, and the choice am making today is to preach peace in this country.

As our Members of Parliament are in the August House agreeing on salary boosts for selfish gain, there never seems to be any cultural or tribal rifts. Yet here we are following them blindly fighting amongst ourselves because of our politicians.

Love your neighbor as you love yourself. We all deserve to be in a country where people co-exist in peace as KENYANS!!

Ways To Reduce The Rate of Unemployment in Kenya.

3:32 am 1 Comments

It may seem like such a small issue in a country whose economy is growing exponentially strong, however, unemployment remains one of the greatest frictional forces that tend to stagnate this growth. The rate of unemployment grows every year every time fresh graduates are poured into the job market in hopes to attain employment.
Last year alone the rate of unemployment was at 40%. Over the years, since 1999, the rate of unemployment has risen steeply from 12.70% to last year’s 40%.

What are we doing wrong? What should we be doing different?

What the country is lacking is innovation. We are lacking in the entrepreneurial culture that necessitates most of the graduates to come up with new ideas that will boost economic growth in Kenya.
So how do we overcome this barrier?

Few fragments of the Kenyan youth have taken advantage of the online worldwide village, the internet, to create another level of income to substitute the basic salary they receive from their jobs. The internet has provided a market place for job creation, therefore overcoming challenges such as inaccessibility.
Some Kenyans have engaged in online Foreign Exchange (FOREX) and they are currently building a steady income from their homes. The only requirement is a laptop, reliable internet and knowledge about what FOREX trading involves.  Currently there is no law in Kenya that deems it as illegal. However, I might add that FOREX trading is not for everyone since it involves significant risk and one should not risk money that he or she is not willing to lose.

The Kenyan youth have also taken advantage of the large job market that entails Academic writing. This is one of the largest income streams on the internet today for most Kenyan youth. Others have gone a step forward and employed more of their fellow graduates to assist them in handling essays in bulk.

Therefore despite the notion that has always been around, that one should work hard to succeed, should realize that people are now succeeding because they work smart. The world is evolving and we are still left in the Stone Age era, where we do things the hard way instead of the smart and intelligent way. The reason we study is to gain knowledge. We gain knowledge in order to change our surroundings to suit our needs. CHANGE!! Nothing happens without change, and in this case we need POSITIVE change. Let us all work smart and exploit the large pool of resources we have starting with our MINDS!!

The Country That I Want and Need

2:32 pm 2 Comments

For the past couple of week all I have been seeing on TV is a bunch of people seeking political recognition and political survival; forming alliances as the common citizen suffers. To be honest, this disgusts me and burns me to the very core. I have never in my life felt so confused. This was  the first time I understood what being 'between a rock and a hard place' means. I am totally undecided about my preferred candidate for the presidential position. I have to say there are so many Cons that come with the two "Horses" in this race to the State House. I believe everybody is set to their own opinion, some blind to their errors either due to cultural or monetary reasons. Either way what we are doing is dragging this country into the dirt like a dying plant. We leave the country to wither under so much filth, killing its roots and causing the flourishing leaves to wither and die.

I want....No!! I need a leader to stand up and put the interests of the country before his or her own. I need a leader who despite all barriers and threats, will not fear to say what is true and do what is right. I need a leader who will not succumb under the weight of important decisions, because without a strong spine the body is weak. What I need to see is progress. We are constantly dogged by the horror of repeating history day in day out. It never seems like we learn from our mistakes.

Are we cursed????

I demand a country that will take care of its citizens like a mother does a new born child. People are scavenging in dustbins for food, Police officers are being gunned down ruthlessly in our valleys and cities. Are we becoming a failed state???
Why is there nobody doing anything to stop the madness that is threatening to take over our country. We need to do something before this rot takes over our beautiful suburbs, our beautiful cities, our gorgeous, fertile rural lands and the brains of the citizens of Kenya.

Take a step, say a prayer, think cautiously and meticulously about your decisions as the General Elections approach. I cannot emphasize enough on peace during and after this period. I love my country and I do not want to see it raze to the ground due to a few people with their own selfish interests.
